Volunteer Examiner (VE) testing sessions for new and upgrading amateur radio operators.

Become a Licensed Amateur Radio Operator

The Southwest Louisiana Amateur Repeater Club conducts FCC amateur radio license examinations through the Volunteer Examiner (VE) program. Testing is available for new applicants and for those upgrading their existing license.

Testing Sessions

Regular VE Sessions

When: 4th Tuesday of each month

Time: 6:00 PM

Location: New Life Worship Center, Moss Bluff, LA

Walk-ins: Welcome (space permitting)

Exams Offered

  • Technician Class
  • General Class
  • Amateur Extra Class

Exam Fees

Exam fees are set by the coordinating VEC and must be paid at the time of testing.

What to Bring

Before You Arrive

All examinees must register for an FCC Registration Number (FRN) prior to testing. This can be completed online through the FCC Universal Licensing System.

Study guides and practice exams are widely available online and through amateur radio organizations.

Special Testing Sessions

Special VE sessions may be arranged for schools, youth groups, emergency service organizations, or large groups when VE availability allows.

Advance coordination is required for special testing sessions.
